“If your kid wants to learn baseball, do you throw him a bat and say, “Good luck, Kiddo!”, or do you put him in Little League?”

located in Brookhaven, Mississippi
Art isn’t just about making pretty things.
At The Little Yellow Building, we treat it like a discipline, a skill you build, a language you learn, and a mirror you hold up to better understand yourself.
We’re not trying to be a big school. We’re a small, serious studio with a clear focus: giving young artists the tools and structure to grow, explore, and push themselves creatively. We meet students where they are, teach them why things work, and help them build the confidence to do it their way.
This isn’t babysitting with paint. It’s real art education for kids who want more.
“. . .teach them what works, why it works, and when to break the rules.”
Our Philosophy:
It’s bigger than making art; it’s learning how to see. We slow down, notice things, ask questions that give us the most answers first, and build from there. It’s learning to break things down to a place you can start from and doing the best you can, one step at a time.
We teach real skills, but we’re not chasing perfection. We coach students to experiment with the tools we give them, mess up, contemplate, and try again. Acknowledging we fail and celebrating when we succeed. Confidence in yourself grows in that cycle. So does good art.
If your child is here, it’s because we believe they’re ready to think yellow, and they know that there are ways to do more. We’ll meet them where they are and help them build from there.

Why Choose The Little Yellow Building???
-
We don’t rush kids through projects. We slow things down and dig into whatever we are creating, so every move we make has a solid backbone.
-
Ten kids, max. When a hand goes up, it gets answered. When a teacher walks the class, all art has time to be seen. And with every demo the instructor does being live-steamed to the big screen in the front of the room, all students have a chance to see what’s going on.
-
A Brookhaven studio run by Brookhaven people.
Parents text us, kids wave when they pass the building, and local artists drop in to share their work. Your tuition stays in Mississippi and helps feed the creative scene here at home.
-
Our Creative Angel tuition program along with profits from student-designed T-shirts help remove cost barriers for families who need help.
Talent and effort should decide who gets an art education, not a price tag.
