Visions of A Southern Sound
Explore the sounds of Mississippi Musicians through the physical creations of Mississippi Visual Artists.
The Vision
As with all of our exhibitions, we aim to give patrons and visitors an experience they can lose themselves.
Viewers will not only be able to see your art while listening to the music that influenced its creation but also immerse themselves in the journey behind the collaboration. This will include any process documentation from the Artists, interviews with the musicians about their music, and interviews between artist and musician.
Transcriptions will be available for the audio impaired.

The Idea
We have collected 20 songs from 10 different Mississippi Musicians to feed your creative flames!
Visual Artists should choose a song from the lists provided and create work inspired by the music.
Artists are encouraged to document their process for display during the exhibit alongside their work and the music. This can take any form from sketches, voice memos, videos, journals, or anything you can think of.
All Musicians have agreed to be contacted by the Artists if they so choose. If you contact each other, we ask that you document or record the experience for visitors of the exhibit. We would be happy to provide a zoom meeting for discussion and easy recording.
Below you will find links to a list of the music and musicians and the Spotify playlist to find your inspiration.
