"Patiently Waiting at the Blue Front"
In this photo Jimmy "Duck" Holmes' guitar lies patiently waiting on him to play. This photo was taken during the Grammy nomination party for Jimmy "Duck" Holmes' on March 14th of this year.
Although Jimmy "Duck" didn't win the Grammy, he pointed to the crowd and said, "This here is my Grammy. All of you are my Grammy. Y'all supporting me and the Blue Front is my Grammy".
This photo speaks to me because a guitar is just a piece of crafted wood without a musician. The musician is what gives the piece life and a language to connect people of all races, backgrounds, and social statuses.
As a Mississippi Blues artist, Jimmy "Duck" is still bringing acknowledgment to Mississippi and the Bentonia Blues. The Blue Front Cafe is where the party's at. Come Friday and Saturday night and Jimmy "Duck" is still making music and playing to the masses.
